LAKE FOREST NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM
I would like to remind you that as a resident of Lake Forest, you are the most important part in helping to protect Lake Forest by being alert and reporting suspicious activities to the Daphne Police Department, especially during this time of year when most people are preoccupied with the holidays. One way to cut down on crime in the neighborhood is to keep your garage door closed whether you are home or not, but especially if you aren’t at home. When a thief drives by and sees an open garage with no vehicle, it’s pretty much a given that no one is home. Also, thieves tend to stay away from homes with children (scattered toys in the yard) because that means an adult is on the premises.
During October, the City of Daphne had 126 incidents overall of which Lake Forest had 29 incidents at 23% of the total crime, up 2% from September. Again, Theft of Property and Domestic Violence (Family Disputes) tie for the top two categories at 6 incidents each – comprising a total of 42% of all crime in Lake Forest. Harassing Communications, Death Investigations and Criminal Mischief also tied at 3 incidents each resulting in an overall percentage of 30%. The next highest category was Burglary with 2 incidents (7%). The remaining categories – Suspicious Activity, ID Theft, Found Property, Runaway Juvenile, Dog Bite, and Property Damage – each had 1 incident (20% total) of the total crime.
We are still in need of Block Captains - please contact our point person, Scott Gould, at 391-8020 if you are interested in volunteering.
Remember that if you see any suspicious circumstances, please call the Daphne Police Department at 621-9100 for non-emergencies and call 911 for emergencies.
Remember that you are the solution to the problem . . . join the Neighborhood Watch Program today!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
