IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE NEWS
We have been please to have three of our City Councilmen speak to the Improvement Committee. Ron Scott, Gus Palumbo and Eric Nager have been part of the agenda at our February, March and April meetings. Each gave information about the things most residents of Lake Forest are interested in, such as: parks, street repairs, taxes, annual budgets, the new City Hall and upcoming elections. They also took questions from Improvement Committee members. We hope to have the remaining Council members speak to us in the upcoming months. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet with them in an informal setting.
Carolyn Reid is continuing to work on a Neighborhood Watch for Lake Forest. Carolyn cannot do this alone. We need people to volunteer to be block captains. Let’s not wait until there has been a problem to realize how valuable this can be to our community. Information was included in your last Lake Forest statement. Take another look at it, fill it in and return to the clubhouse. The police department will install free Neighborhood Watch signs in Lake Forest when we have the program in place.
We are planning our 2nd annual Improvement Committee Golf Tournament. It will be held October 5th. This years event will be bigger and better that the 1st Annual Tournament. Door prizes and a Hole in One contest, for a new automobile, will add to the fun and excitement. If you would like to donate a door prize, please tell Steve or Tournament Chairman, Don Wineman. Hole sponsorships will be available for $50.00.
Some Improvement Committee and Garden Club members have been weeding flowerbeds, in the median, especially at Ridgewood and Bayview and along Bayview at Golf Terrace Drive. What a difference it makes to the appearance of Lake Forest! If you see them out working, give them a thumbs up or a honk of the horn. They do this work for all of us!!!
Next meeting is May 6th. See you at 6:30 in the 19th Hole.
