Stated Board Meeting Minutes
In attendance were John Peterson, Jim Moss, Willie Robison, Sherrie Weller, Bryan Frater, Marie Bidney and Clint Martin. Staff attendance was Steve Jernudd. Selena Vaughn came in at 6:28 p.m.

Minutes for Approval:
The minutes for the March 24th Stated Board meeting were approved as written.
Committee Reports:
Financial: Joe Mosley gave report; complete financial can be obtained at the POA office.
Architectural: Jim Moss reported that there were total of 59 violations for the month of March; 32 current and previous violations were corrected and 6 violations were sent to the attorney.
Jim Moss made a motion to present a letter to the City of Daphne to remove an oak tree located on the median between the 9th and 10th hole due to it being a safety hazard.
Building and Grounds: Willie Robison reported that the “D” dock is complete with 10 finger piers and looks great; water and electricity to follow. Yacht Club kitchen and air conditioner bids were $4200 and $4500.
Communications: Selena Vaughn was absent during committee reports.
Food and Beverage: Sherrie Weller gave report. She said Steve, Annie & Debbie have done a great job in bringing food costs down. Food costs for all three facilities was now down to 50%.
Greens: Steve Jernudd gave report; play is good, golf is $36,000 behind but people are excited about the greens redo; April has been a good month for golf, Memorial Day is last day that the forest course will be open before beginning the greens redo. Steve has arranged for our annual golf members to play at local courses at a discounted rate while the greens redo is going on.
Lake: John Peterson reported on email that was sent to ADEM concerning the erosion in the gulley, upstream from our lake; basically through the city’s help we have pinpointed the largest contributing source of a lot the sediment by a single land owner in our watershed, we are trying to push regulatory agencies to assist us, it is going to be a long & difficult process. We have also found other sites, one upstream from Tom’s Cove and have notified the proper agencies on that. There was a watershed meeting on April 18th and it was well attended.
Recreation: Clint Martin said pools & tennis were under budget.
Yacht Club and Marina: Marie Bidney reported that we have a total of 42 wet slips with 25 rented out and a total of 110 dry slips with 80 of those rented out.
Member Comments:
Doretta Bottenus commented that the Lake Forest brochure that goes into the new member packets looks good; she also would like for Lake Forest to put an ad in the Alabama magazine at no cost to the association.
George Lieb disagrees with the closing of the swim & racquet pool, he suggested that we compromise and open the pool part time.
Jim Moss made a motion to suspend the rules so he could discuss the pool situation. Motion granted. Mr. Moss made a motion to open the swim & racquet pool five days a week from 4 – 7, weekends from 1 – 5, without lifeguards and a stipulation posted that reads no lifeguards on duty swimmers swim at their own risk and a sign in the bathrooms. (Motion Tabled)
Old Business:
The discussion regarding the demolition of the swim & racquet club building was removed from agenda until later in the year.
Capital Improvement for 2008 was tabled.
New Business:
Joe Mosley made a motion for the Lake Forest Property Owners Association to pursue a Capital Investment Plan for improvements to our amenities & facilities (Motion Passed)
Steve Jernudd made a motion to move contingency fund back to the general fund since we currently have flood insurance on the yacht club. (Motion Passed 8-1)
John Peterson made a motion for the Lake Forest board to become active members of Friends of Baldwin (Motion Passed)
John Peterson said the Lake Report is not released yet, he should have a report next month.
Jim Moss made a motion to rescind motion of November 2003 regarding Amendment of the by-laws 6.6. (Motion Passed 8-1)
