LAKE FOREST GOLF CLUB
The Lake Forest Golf Club is conveniently located off of Bayview Drive just 1-1/2 miles from the Highway 90 entrance. The facility has a full service clubhouse with Pro Shop, restaurant, locker rooms, showers, lounge and more to serve our members.
The main focus is the 27 golf holes that Lake Forest Country Club maintains for its members. There are two separate courses. The "Forest 18" is the championship golf course which maintains a par 72 rating. The course is 6500 yards in length from the back tees with several other tee boxes to meet every level of golfer. The "Lake 9" course is a regulation 9 holes of golf with a par of 35. The yardage is 3000 yards and has one par 5 and two par 3s. The Club also features a putting green, practice bunker and practice range. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, 6:30 a.m. to dusk. Steve Jernudd, the Club's Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional Paul Johnson, will be happy to assist you. To make tee times or inquire about annual membership, call 626-9324.
The 19th Hole Grill is located adjacent to the golf shop. The 19th Hole boasts a grill menu that has many different sandwiches and salads. All the sandwiches and salads are reasonably priced and are prepared on an individual basis. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. If you would to call in an order, dial 626-4520.
The Bayview Lounge is located in the upper part of the clubhouse and provides an excellent view of Mobile Bay and the Mobile City Skyline. Darts and Pool are offered as well as a big screen TV for your sports viewing. This is a popular gathering point for golfers after their round of golf. Hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.
The clubhouse also has two dining rooms available for catering functions. The Forest Room is a large room featuring a cathedral ceiling and an excellent view of the golf course. This room can accommodate in excess of 200 people. The Lake Room is a smaller more cozy room to accommodate smaller functions. This room is great for rehearsal dinners. Please contact the Lake Forest Property Owner's Association office at 626-0788 for more details or log on to www.lakeforestycc.com and go to the bottom of the user fees page for rental information.
His first question was a very generic question. What is the principle of the golf swing? As he stated all things have principles. An example he used was a boat. What is the principle of a boat? The answer was to float. Toms answer to the principle of a golf swing is. To squash (flatten) the ball. Not just hit it but to squash it. Using this principle I understand why, when I am instructing, I tell students to hit the ball down into the ground. Do not try to lift the ball in the air. This is just another way of having them squash instead of hitting the ball.
The other point I would like to share is about the pivot of the golf swing. Taking that we swing in a circular motion, most students think the center of the circle that you swing around is your spine, sternum, or head. Actually the center of the swing is the left shoulder for right handed golfers and the right shoulder for left handed golfers. Keeping this thought in mind take a practice swing with the forward shoulder being the focus point of your golf swing should help you keep a good flow and a good circular motion through the golf ball. If you would like to learn more about the golf swing and the principle of the golf swings, Paul and I would love to have lessons with each of you. Give us a call.
We look forward to seeing all of you at the links.
