March 2009
March was a very busy month for the Women’s Club. Our cook book, Chefs of Lake Forest, arrived and was a great success! As I write this article on April 10th we are completely sold out after only a little over one month of sales and are still getting requests for copies. We are currently taking names of those still wishing to place orders and a reorder of books may be made if we have enough prepaid orders. If you wish to place an order please give cash or a check for $12.50 made payable to the Lake Forest Women’s Club to Alisa at the main desk of the Country Club. Your money will be returned if there are not enough names for a reorder. A disbursement committee will be appointed to determine how to distribute our charitable contributions and community input is appreciated. Please leave messages with Alisa at 626-0788.
Many, many thanks again to all the residents and friends of Lake Forest who contributed their delicious recipes. There has been nothing but praise from everyone who has used the cook book and, of course, recommended it to their friends. Residents of Lake Forest are also wonderful salespersons and our charities appreciate it!
Many people helped to make Chefs of Lake Forest a success and we would like to give special recognition to Steve Jernudd for his help and advice, Alisa Herrin for all her hard work in selling books, taking phone calls and keeping track of names and money, and of course our cook book committee: Alice Albright, Carol Irish, Patricia Popp, Mary Taulbee, Martha Thomas, Mary Thompson and Wanda Patterson.
In March we also celebrated with our annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance and had a wonderful time. Thanks to the planning of Connie Mahoney there was lots of delicious corned beef and cabbage, hilarious Irish jokes, Irish sing-a-longs and dancing. The Yacht Club was packed and there was still a waiting list! Great job Connie!
