Golf Clinics
Lake Forest Yacht & Country Club completed a junior golf camp for kids aged 3 1/2 through 6 years old, that was called the "Eaglettes". Due to an overwhelming turnout, the camp was split into two classes. The juniors were taught the basics of gripping the golf club and the "hokey-pokey" of hitting a golf ball. Each week, the kids were treated to various fun activities to make golf enjoyable for them. By graduation day, each junior was able to swing a golf club and hit a golf ball, but more importantly, a foundation was laid for building tomorrow's golf stars.
Our Junior Golf Association is growing, we had 44 junior golfers this week.

With the New Year, Lake Forest Yacht & Country Club is proud to announce the formation of the Lake Forest Junior Golf Association, or LFJGA. The LFJGA is expanding its golf clinic offerings. In the past, the course has offered a junior clinic, but the LFJGA is changing this trend. Now, the course is offering many different junior clinics, camps, and tournaments depending on a junior’s age, gender, and playing ability. The program encourages each young player to reach his/her potential at his/her own pace. This approach also eliminates age and gender qualifiers that inhibit a young player and their progress.
Currently, the Lake Forest Junior Golf Association has five levels of difficulty and five clinics during the week depending a young player’s ability. The clinic schedule is as follows:
Boys Level 1 for Beginners Tuesday at 3:30pm
The Level 1 for Beginners Division is a clinics based single-session, skill specific program. The activities and instruction curriculum concentrate on providing the fundamental skills necessary for building an overall golf game. Any junior golfer who would like to enroll in the program MUST begin the program in the Level 1 Division. The player may test out of Level 1 by meeting the requirements to graduate to Level 2.
Girls-Only Clinic Tuesday at 4:30pm
The Girls-Only Division is a year-round, developmental junior golf program exclusively for girls aged 6-17 years old. The program introduces and encourages girls to play golf, learn the fundamentals of the golf swing, and build friendships in a non-threatening environment. The program incorporates the Lake Forest Junior Golf Association program Level 1 and Level 2 curriculum in an effort to develop girls into the game of golf at their own pace and without interference from boys. This program is designed for the girl new to golf to the girl who would like a refresher with their golf game. Golf clubs are available for use.
Boys Level 2 for Advanced Beginners Wednesday at 3:30pm
Level 3 is for Intermediate players. Level 3 players are also in a clinics based single-session, skill specific program. The instruction curriculum will become more intense and the skill challenges will increased in difficulty from Level 2. Every child must pass the Level 1 and Level 2 program tests in order to graduate into Level 3.
Boys Level 3 for Intermediate Players Wednesday at 4:15pm
Level 4 is for Advanced Intermediate players. Level 4 is a clinic based single-session, skill specific program. The instruction curriculum will become more intense and the skill challenges will increased in difficulty from Level 3. Every child must pass the Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 program tests in order to graduate into Level 4.
College-Prep Junior Program Thursday at 4:00pm
The College-Prep Junior Program is the highest developmental level offered as part of the Lake Forest Junior Golf Association. Our program is a year-round, developemental program for junior high and high school golfers or a “special” junior, who is interested in playing at the collegiate level or tournament level. The comprehensive training program covers three distinct areas of instruction: swing mechanics, course management, and mental preparation.
Our goal is to grow the game of golf by introducing Lake Forest youth and other local youth to the game in a fun and creative learning environment. We will strive to highlight the relationship of playing the game of golf to each child’s personal development. Specifically, golf offers the opportunity to teach life lessons like, integrity, honesty, sportsmanship, as well as, learn the basics of the golf swing.
